Survivor Auction won't return for Season 46, says Jeff Probst

Jeff Probst American television presenter and film producer

Survivor fans, get ready for some disappointing news. The beloved Survivor Auction will not be making a comeback in Season 46. Host and executive producer Jeff Probst confirmed this in an interview with Entertainment Weekly. This announcement may come as a surprise to those familiar with Survivor's production schedule, as the show films two seasons at a time. However, Probst explained that the decision not to include the auction in Season 46 was due to resource constraints.

In Season 45, the Survivor Auction made a triumphant return with some new twists. Instead of players being given a set amount of money to spend, they had to search for their money in the jungle. The number of items available for auction was also kept a mystery. Adding another layer of excitement, the player with the most money left at the end would lose their voting power at the next tribal council.

While the Survivor Auction has been a fan favorite, Probst revealed that executing it requires a lot of resources and coordination. The production team has to manage various aspects, from acquiring the auction items to handling the financial transactions. Probst acknowledged that the team was already stretched thin due to the expanded 90-minute episodes in Season 45. With barely any rest between seasons, they had to prioritize their resources wisely.

However, Probst emphasized that he never likes to permanently close the door on any aspect of Survivor. He assured fans that if the Survivor Auction does make a comeback, it will be carefully planned as a part of the overall design of a season. He even hinted that it might return in Season 47 or 48, if not both.

While it's disappointing that the Survivor Auction won't be gracing our screens in Season 46, it's clear that Probst and the production team are dedicated to delivering an exceptional season. The exhaustion they experienced during Season 45 highlights their commitment to producing a high-quality show. As fans, we can appreciate their effort and look forward to what Season 46 has in store.

Survivor Season 46 premieres on CBS on Wednesday, February 28. As we await the new season, let's trust that Probst and his team will continue to push boundaries and surprise us with new and exciting twists. And who knows, maybe the Survivor Auction will return sooner than we think.
