A woman decides to order DoorDash from Panera while she recovers from a hangover in bed. However, viewers of her now-viral video criticize her “dangerous” request for her delivery driver to bring the food to her bedroom.
In a video with over 4.3 million views, TikToker Rory Mollo (@rorymollo) lies in bed with an icepack on her forehead. Her voice is hoarse.
On-screen text reads, “So hungover I just had my doordasher bring my Panera in my bedroom.”
She shows a man entering her room with her Panera order. She tells him to place the order on her bedside table.
The man looks alarmed as he hands her his phone to sign for the order. He quickly leaves her bedroom, and she thanks him.
Can DoorDashers enter customers’ homes?
Other DoorDash drivers discuss whether they should enter a customer’s home on request when delivering their food in the r/DoorDash subreddit. Many suggest that drivers should never enter a home for safety reasons.
“DD can’t ask you to come inside anyone’s house. That’s why you have the ‘can’t hand to customer’ button,” one writes.
“There is the safety issue when you walk out of public sight and in a private residence,” another says.
While DoorDash does not share its policy for Dashers entering customers’ homes online, several commenters in the forum suggest that support has told them not to.
What did viewers think of the TikToker’s request?
In the comments, viewers warn Mollo that her request was dangerous for both her and the DoorDash driver.
“I feel like no matter how hung over i am im not letting some random in my house , doordash or not but to each their own boo,” one writes.
“Please don’t do this again. You’re lucky he was a safe person, this could have ended very badly,” another says.
“No if someone told me to go inside their house if I was door dashing I’d think they were trying to kidnap me,” a third suggests.
However, others say that the DoorDash driver made the choice to enter the TikToker’s home—and luckily had good intentions.
“Why are you guys so mad? the guy obviously had no bad intentions he’s just doing his job,” a commenter says.
“I used to be a dasher and would say theres something odd with almost like 75% of orders so I dont think bro was fazed at all,” another writes.
“If he didn’t want to bring it inside then he wouldn’t have brought it inside, yall needa chill out,” a third adds.
“Apart of me wants to say this bad, however we need a sense of community and trust with people,” a fourth suggests.
