Christmas is getting closer every day and, despite the fact that this year will be very different from previous years, there's still plenty to get excited about.
For many people, Christmas is all about giving and receiving gifts. Whether its an exchange between grown-ups, or a getting your child the present they've been dreaming about all year, so much of the magic of this time of year comes from the giving of a special gift.
Online toy retailer Bargain Max have conducted a UK-wide survey of 500 parents, which has revealed how much money parents are planning on spending on toys this Christmas.
The survey revealed that parents living in Belfast plan on spending, on average, £87.08 on toys . This represents a year on year increase of 16.76% .
On top of this, the survey revealed that, perhaps surprisingly, Belfast parents were still likely to purchase their gifts in store, despite the current Covid pandemic.
The survey showed that 58% of people from Belfast were planning to buy in store, with the remaining planning on purchasing gifts online (25%) or by other means.
The survey revealed that the average spend on toys last year across the UK was £111 per family, meaning that Belfast falls well below the average. Sheffield, Leeds and Newcastle were among the cities spending most on toys.
Despite this, those looking to browse for gifts in Northern Ireland this year will have the advantage of being able to do so in store (for the nex week anyway), whereas all non-essential shops in England are currently closed until December.
