Survey names Scotland's top shopping centre

Intu Braehead has been named Scotland’s top shopping centre for the second year in a row in the GlobalData UK Top 50.

The Renfrewshire mall placed 13th in the UK with a score of 3.05, ahead of East Kilbride in 18th place, Silverburn in Glasgow in 23rd and Aberdeen Union Square at 25.

The Top 50 UK Shopping Centres Report for 2019 is based on ratings from tenants and shoppers of each venue's turnover, footfall, area, sales density, occupancy rate, spend per visitor and dwell times. GlobalData also measured potential for future spending on retail, leisure and food; the provision of key facilities and meeting shopper expectations.

Peter Beagley, Braehead centre director, said: “We said when we were awarded the top spot in Scotland last year that we wouldn’t rest on our laurels. It’s pleasing to know we are continually improving the experience of people who visit us and the service to our tenants.

“We aim to give retailers and leisure operators the best platform for them to do business and provide visitors with a great day out, offering a variety of shopping and leisure activities they can enjoy with family and friends.”

Westfield London in Shepherd's Bush was rated No1 in the UK.
