Survey for garbage-free city category begins in Nashik

NASHIK: A four-member team has started the Swachh Survekshan survey in Nashik for the garbage-free city (GFC) category.

The team is visiting various parts of the city to check the cleanliness works carried out by the Nashik Municipal Corporation (NMC).

According to Avesh Palod, director, solid waste management of NMC, the team is visiting various parts of the city, and the local officials are assisting them in identifying the locations.

“The team members are speaking to the citizens and noting down the details of the places they visit and citizens' responses and comments over the Nashik civic body’s preparedness and responses,” Palod said.

The city is known for gardens and jogging tracks. The team is focusing on the black spots already identified by the civic body, where people often throw garbage in the open.

The team is also scheduled to visit the densely populated areas to understand the kind of cleanliness the corporation is maintaining with a focus on garbage collection, disposal of garbage, and its processing.

NMC's composting plant is also on the team’s itinerary and they are expected to make a couple of visits to the plant to identify the modus operandi and the consistency in the functioning of the corporation.

The citizens, who were interviewed by the team, said that the surveyors not only enquired about frequent cleanliness tasks taken up by the corporation but also asked if the citizens are using the application for registering the complaints and the response time for the registered complaints.
