Surrey tie down Reece Topley and Curran brothers Sam and Tom to new contracts

Three members of England’s white-ball squad in India, Sam and Tom Curran and Reece Topley, have all signed new contracts with Surrey.

The deal for left-arm quick Topley, 27, is particularly notable as it is to play in all formats. A series of injuries have meant he has not limited him to just five first-class matches in five years, and originally joined Surrey last year on a white-ball only contract.

"I do view this as a second career in a way," Topley said in India yesterday. "I had such a long break in the middle, I'm older and more mature as a person, I have a totally different outlook on what being a pro cricketer is.”

Surrey are likely to have limited access, particularly in first-class cricket, to the Curran brothers (who are both graduates of their academy) this summer as they both have IPL deals, are involved with England and will represent Oval Invincibles in the Hundred.

Surrey Director of Cricket Alec Stewart said: "I'm very pleased Sam, Tom & Reece have all extended their contracts. They are three highly skilled international cricketers and I look forward to seeing them play for both Surrey and England in red and white-ball cricket for many years.”
