Surprising link between The Chase contestants has fans all saying the same thing

Eagle-eyed fans of the Chase spotted a surprising link between the contestants on today's show.

Four new quizzers appeared on the popular ITV gameshow and took on Chaser Paul Sinha in a bid to win a cash prize.

And viewers of the show were all quick to make the same point on Twitter when Bradley Walsh introduced today's line-up of Nick, Carol, Joseph and Mary.

One user said: "I see Mary, I see Joseph, but what could we be missing?"

Another commented: "Mary, Joseph and a church leader. Almost a religious full house. Perhaps Nick is a little donkey"

A third added: "Christmas special on #TheChase?"

A fourth tweeted, alongside a crying laughing face emoji: "Mary Joseph and Carol festive"

The festive link between the names was also spotted by Paul Sinha when he suggested what offer Carol would take.

He joked: "Mary and Joseph don't want to stay in a stable, do they? They want to stay in a proper hotel."

The 51-year-old comedian was seemingly inspired by the generous Christmas spirit to make his highest ever offer to contestant Mary of £108,000.

The trainee accountant instead opted for the minus offer of -£2,000 and was caught when she was one step away from home.

Church leader Carol was also caught by The Chaser which left Nick and Joseph competing for £12,000 in the Final Chase.

The two built up 16 steps in the last round but were caught by 'The Sinnerman' with 39 seconds remaining.

The Chase continues tomorrow at 5pm on ITV and ITVHub
