Surprising Jurgen Klopp record proves why Chelsea has advantage heading into Todd Boehly era

Chelsea will be aiming to close the gap with Jurgen Klopp's Liverpool in the coming years in the Premier League after finishing behind the Merseyside club for five straight seasons after the last title win under Antonio Conte in 2017.

However, even with Chelsea's underperformance in a Premier League context, the trophies have not stopped coming into the club's cabinet. As @ChelseaYouth noted following Saturday night's Champions League final that saw Liverpool lose to Real Madrid in Paris, Chelsea has won the same number of Premier League, Champions League, Super Cup, Club World Cup, FA Cup and EFL Cup titles as Liverpool.

The number of finals the Blues made in the 2021/22 campaign further emphasised this point, losing both domestic cup finals to Klopp's side at Wembley, whilst beating Palmeiras in the Club World Cup Final and Villarreal in the Super Cup last August.

Add to that the FA Cup win in 2018 and the Europa League win in Baku a year later, Chelsea under Roman Abramovich have proved a consistently strong cup side, even if the league campaigns have quickly tailed off.

With the change in ownership to Todd Boehly's consortium all but confirmed, the hope will be that the gap to Klopp can be closed in the Premier League, but the Blues remain competitive for silverware on a yearly basis under Thomas Tuchel. Demonstrating the unique boost they have over rivals.
