Surprise This Morning shout out for County Durham woman on her 100th birthday

A County Durham woman got a birthday surprise to remember on Friday when she got a special shout out on This Morning.

Julie Sewell had got in touch with the ITV daytime show to ask if they could wish happy birthday to her aunt Bessie Featherstone, a resident at Castle Bank care home in Tow Law.

And hosts Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford were only too happy to oblige, as you can see in the video above.

Ruth read out a message from Julie, which read: "We can't see her or have a big party but she would love it if she could have a shout out."

Ruth added: "I'm presuming they've got the TV on and Julie's told them that she's sent in. So we just want to you say from all of us here at This Morning, to you Bessie Featherstone, happy 100th birthday. Enjoy!"

Earlier on in Friday's show, Ruth and Eamonn paid tribute to "fantastic" care staff at a home in the Isle of Wight who'd moved into the home to look after residents, with some of the workers having to sleep in tents outside.
