Surprise Mavropanos start, Lacazette dropped - The team Arsenal fans want to see vs Man United

Arsenal go in search of a first Premier League home win since early October when they entertain Manchester United tonight.

It's also once win across all competitions for the north London outfit since the end of October - two of which have come under new head coach Mikel Arteta following Unai Emery's sacking just over a month ago.

The Spaniard will be hoping it's third time lucky having overseen a 1-1 draw against Bournemouth as well as a 2-1 home defeat at the hands of Chelsea three days ago.

Premier League match preview: Arsenal v Manchester United

Having started the season with hopes of finishing in the top four, the stark reality is that the Gunners are only six points clear of the relegation zone and could really do with a victory.

And history is on their side.

The corresponding meeting at the Emirates Stadium last season finished 2-0 to the hosts with Granit Xhaka and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang - both linked with moves away this month - on the scorsheet.

A repeat scoreline would reduce the gap to United to four points and Arteta did see some positives from his first home game as head coach.

"Yes, I am really disappointed with the result and the way we conceded the goals and the timing of them as well," he said after the Chelsea loss." I'm pleased with a lot of things I've seen and I' pleased with things that we trained that actually happened in the game and how they buy into this.

"But I'm disappointed to lose the game. We have to sustain that level for longer periods against a very physical team like Chelsea and yes, we have to move on."

Ahead of the game at the Emirates Stadium, football.london offered fans the chance to step into Arteta's shoes and pick the team to take on the Red Devils.

Supporters were asked who they'd like to start the game against Man United , and those who responded came up with some interesting selections.

As expected, Bernd Leno keeps his place in goal despite his error against the Blues.

With Calum Chambers and Sokratis set to miss out, fans have called for Konstantinos Mavropanos to start ahead of Shkodran Mustafi alongside David Luiz in arguably the biggest surprise.

The midfield three is the same as what started the Chelsea loss and with Lucas Torreira and Matteo Guendouzi anchoring thus leaving Mesut Ozil to pull the strings in his natural number 10 position.

Things get rather interesting in attack.

Not only have fans called for Ress Nelson to once again keep Nicolas Pepe's out of the team, they also want Alexandre Lacazette to make way for Gabriel Martinelli to make his return after a couple of games out.

Arsenal XI:  Leno; Maitland-Niles, Luiz, Mavropanos, Saka; Torreira, Guendouzi; Nelson, Ozil, Gabriel Martinelli; Aubameyang
