Surprise Liverpool player named most underrated in Premier League by Martin Keown

Martin Keown reckons Liverpool forward Roberto Firmino is the most underrated player in the Premier League.

While Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane have taken the plaudits this season, netting 19 and 18 goals respectively, Firmino has managed just 12.

But the Brazilian has been instrumental in everything the Reds do both going forward and when needing to defend.

Firmino has long been celebrated as the focal point of Jurgen Klopp's gegenpressing style, and has proven time and time again he's only too happy to put his body on the line for the cause.

Alan Shearer names the player who holds the key to the Premier League title race

Speaking on Football Focus, the former Arsenal centre-back said: "He [Firmino] is perhaps the most underrated player in the Premier League due to the work rate he puts in - he links up play.

"He is the foil for those two players, Mane and Salah. They have the real pace."
