Surprise heavy rain set to hit Edinburgh during rush hour - see the forecast

Rush hour commuters in Edinburgh are expected to be hit with heavy rain this afternoon even after a sunny start.

The Met Office say there will be 90 per cent chance of heavy rain come 5pm, just in time for rush hour.

Many commuters are likely to have left the house today without an umbrella after a pleasant start to the morning.

The heavy showers are expected to continue until 7pm, with sunset around 6pm. The wind is also expected to pick up throughout the day.

The weather is expected to continue to be variable throughout the week, with spells of sunshine and rain everyday.

No weather warnings are currently in place for Scotland, however parts of Manchester and Wales have been issued with yellow and amber warnings for rain.
