Surprise Avengers character almost survived the Thanos snap in Endgame

One member of the Avengers almost had a much bigger role in Endgame.

The cliffhanger ending of Avengers Infinity War saw Thanos (Josh Brolin) wipe out half of the universe's population after obtaining all of the Infinity Stones.

The remaining Avengers would then go on to battle the villain and eventually reverse his actions in Avengers Endgame.

However, it has now been revealed that one Avenger originally survived the first snap and would have played a bigger role in Endgame in an early draft of the scripts.

Screenwriter Christopher Markus told Cinema Blend : "We had a moment where [Scarlet Witch] looked at [Vision’s] body in a drawer, and it was mainly just maudlin. It was also frankly from a draft where she hadn't been blipped. Because we had a draft where she survived and was a character in Endgame."

He added: "The problem was she’d gotten so much mileage and story in the first movie that she didn't really have anything that equalled that in the second. So it was a step down."

Scarlet Witch/Wanda Maximoff (Elizabeth Olsen) was restored to life at the conclusion of Avengers Endgame, but without her beloved Vision (Paul Bettany).

The pair will both appear, however, in upcoming Disney+ limited series WandaVision, which will see Scarlet Witch altering reality to be reunited with her beloved, but at what cost?

This shall lead into her appearance in the sequel film Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.

Just what issues could Wanda unleash in the name of love?

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is released in cinemas on May 7, 2021.
