Surgery on core injury possible for Packers WR Allen Lazard

A breakout receiver for the Green Bay Packers may need surgery to fix a new injury.

According to Rob Demovsky of ESPN, Packers receiver Allen Lazard will meet with core muscle specialist Dr. William Meyers to determine if he needs surgery to repair his injury.

Lazard, who caught six passes for 146 yards and a touchdown during the Packers’ win over the New Orleans Saints on Sunday, missed practice on Thursday.

Dr. Meyers has repaired core injuries for players such as Robert Tonyan, Greg Roberts, Geronimo Allison, Damarious Randall and Greg Jennings in recent years.

Surgery on the injury would almost certainly require Lazard to miss a big chunk of this season. Even recovery without surgery will likely mean missed games for the Packers receiver.

Lazard has been terrific for the Packers to start 2020, catching 13 passes for a team-high 254 yards and two touchdowns. Packers Wire highlighted his incredible efficiency this season in a post earlier this week.
