Supermarkets have reported a surge in demand for delivery slots amid fears of a second wave of panic buying.
Shoppers anxious about another national lockdown are said to be booking up delivery slots for groceries.
The big chains are desperate to avoid a repeat of scenes in March when customers stripped shelves bare.
But over the weekend Tesco, which has more than doubled its weekly online orders capacity from 600,000 to 1.5million, was fully booked until Wednesday, The Mirror reports.
Store bosses insist they now have more than enough stock and delivery slots for everyone as tighter lockdown measures creep across the country.
Sainsbury’s also spoke of “high demand” while Ocado warned of a three-day waiting list for home deliveries.
There were also reports of empty supermarket shelves and people already shopping for Christmas turkeys.
One supermarket worker told The Mirror: “Some people are definitely panic buying again. We have 4,000 more items this weekend than we usually would.
“We have seen an increase in people over the last few weeks.
“When the panic buying started months ago, we hadn’t experienced it. We are prepared now.”
Andrew Opie, head of food and sustainability at the British Retail Consortium, said: “We urge consumers to be considerate and shop for food as they would usually during this difficult time.”
It comes as Scotland’s Health Secretary Jeane Freeman said a national ban on house visits is “one of the options” being considered by the Government.
Scotland was plunged into another lockdown, with just six people from two households allowed to meet up - both indoors and outdoors.
Large parts of the west of Scotland have also seen strict restrictions in place, and are not allowed to visit other households.
