High seas and crashing waves attracted visitors to the coast today to watch the drama.
As temperatures dipped and snow started, no one expected to see anyone actually braving the water.
But two Bangor lads defied the odds and launched their boards for some Saturday morning surfing in Donaghadee Harbour.
And with a watch crew on standby for dangerous wipeouts, they used the high tide and fierce surf catch a few pockets.
Their sport was also under the watchful eye of the Donaghadee RNLI Lifeboat team whose office overlooks the harbor.

And while John Ashwood, Volunteer Second Coxswain appreciates the big waves can be exciting, he warned seagoers not to risk their lives.
John said: "This weekend we are seeing strong easterly winds and rough seas, water temperature of between 6 to 8 degrees and air temperatures even lower.
"Combined the full high tides, big waves, strong under-pull, and the low temperatures this does increase risk to life.
"We would urge members of the public’s not underestimate the power of the sea or overestimate their ability.

"Coastal walking, open sea swimming and water based activities should be approached with exceptionally great caution and ideally avoided this weekend."
Remember the RNLI's water safety advice:
- Take care if walking along the shore - stay back, stay dry.
- Check tide times and weather forecasts daily.
- Take a fully charged phone.
- If going afloat, ALWAYS wear a lifejacket or other personal flotation device and take a waterproof means of calling for help.
- Ensure your equipment is in good working order.
- Be aware of the conditions and your capabilities and only enter the water if it is safe to do so.
- In an emergency call 999 and ask for the Coast Guard.
