Surfer's leg 'bitten to the bone' in horror shark attack on crowded beach

A man who survived a terrifying shark attack has revealed how his leg was bitten "to the bone" while he was surfing.

Horrified witnesses rushed to help Wil Schroeter, 50, after he suffered shocking injuries in Windang Beach, near Wollongong in southern Australia.

He had to undergo two rounds of surgery after suffering extensive injuries.

Eerily his wife Michelle said she was expecting a call from police - saying she had dreamed of the attack just two days earlier.

He told Australia's 9News : "All of a sudden the shark just came from the very front of me surf board and just grabbed onto me leg.
