Surface water warning issued for drivers across Glasgow

Drivers have been urged to take care on the roads as Glasgow is battered by heavy rain this morning.

Traffic Scotland has issued a warning for surface water affecting current driving conditions in Glasgow City and North Lanarkshire.

A  Safer Scotland advice guide advises motorists driving on treacherous roads to slow down and maintain a safe distance from the vehicle on front.

While drivers are also advised to take their foot off the accelerator to slow down and avoid breaking or steering suddenly if your tyres lose grip or "aquaplanes" on surface water.
