Supreme Court’s ruling on Census raises questions

In this June 20, photo, the Supreme Court is seen under stormy skies in Washington.

What was Supreme Court Justice John Roberts thinking? He ruled the administration’s rationale for including a citizenship question on the census was “contrived” — in other words, a lie — but encouraged Secretary of Commerce Wilbur Ross to come up with a better argument. If he lied the first time, what could he possibly come up with to get a green light from the court — or does the court really want to OK it without looking ultra-partisan?

And now President Donald Trump has trotted out the possibility that he might override the Supreme Court with an executive order. This is so out of line with the operation of our democracy that it should trigger an impeachment inquiry. No member of our government should even consider obeying such an order.

Bad move

Isn’t it great that the Cubs are switching to Trump TV just about the time the White Sox are about to take over the city? Another great move by the Ricketts clan.

Let it go

President Trump impressed voters because he promised to make America great again. Sen. Kamala Harris, D-Calif., will impress voters if she can promise what can be delivered to all Americans that will make life better.

It is a mistake to dwell on the negative era of racist busing. Let it go and move on. It is surprising that an educated parent subjected a child to busing instead of homeschooling for a quality education.

I am 83, black, a great grandmother, a retired CPS business/computer programming teacher, with a master’s degree plus in school guidance and counseling, and I spend long hours engaged in medical research to prevent diseases. I have never wasted precious energy dwelling on racism and how they treated me as a child. I love all people on Planet Earth, and I don’t care if you don’t love me back. This is a wonderful world!

New low

The GOP and this president have reached a new low with a parade for a “wanna be” dictator. Now we have a banana republic president and a Grand Ole “Banana Republic” Party.
