The Supreme Court on Saturday decided to advance its summer vacation considering the alarming surge in the COVID-19 pandemic.
A circular issued said the court would close on May 10 instead of May 14. It would re-open on June 28.
Chief Justice of India N.V. Ramana considered the suggestions from the various Bar bodies and directed the early closing of the court keeping in mind the health of the court staffers, lawyers and judges amid the rising number of infections in the National Capital.
“It is hereby circulated for information of all concerned that upon consideration of the suggestions from the Bar due to an alarming surge in Covid-19 infections, and in terms of provisions of the Supreme Court Rules, 2013 in that regard, Hon'ble the Chief Justice of India has been pleased to direct that the Summer Vacation of the Supreme Court Calendar, 2021 be rescheduled to commence on Monday, the 10th May, 2021,” the circular said.
