Suppression order imposed in alleged public place shootings cases

The cases of five men accused in relation to alleged public place shootings in the Batemans Bay area in December 2019 are now subject to a suppression order.

Prosecutors applied for the order in Batemans Bay Local Court on Monday, September 14, 2020. Magistrate Doug Dick upheld the application in relation to Michael Wayne Clarke, 34, who was extradited from the ACT in August, to face charges of knowingly directing the activities of a criminal group, participating in a criminal group, supplying an unregistered prohibited firearm and supplying ammunition to an unauthorised person.

The order also applies to the cases of Tyran Leslie Hood (also known as Tyron), 25, of Mogo; Mathew Trick, 31, of Sunshine Bay; James Wallace, 33, of Long Beach, and Mitchell Leslie Edwards.

Trick is charged with knowingly directing the activities of a criminal group. Hood and Wallace are charged with participating in a criminal group. The three each face two counts of firing at a dwelling as part of a criminal activity. Mitchell Leslie Edwards is charged with participating in a criminal group and two counts of firing at a dwelling. The cases have been adjourned to November 2.
