Other supporters included the Thammanat Prompow Foundation, which will sponsor tuition fees and other expenses totalling 50,000 a year throughout the programme, and some foreigners, who have offered financial help, the student added.
"I would like to thank all supporters for giving me the chance. I promise to study hard so that all will not be disappointed," he said.
Nong Tan, 18, was accepted to study at the medical faculty at the university but he and his parents were worried they might not be able to afford it.
With the support for his education, the student from Dok Kham Tai Witthayakhom School said he was ready to sign a contract with the university in July before classes begin in August.
His mother, Wandee, also thanked the supporters. "I do not have anything to give them in return except my sincere thank on behalf of my family," she said.
The student plans to be a doctor helping the poor after he graduates.
