Support for women and children in war

Support: Women MPs show support for Ukraine, including Jodie Harrison (Charlestown), Sonia Hornery (Wallsend), Yasmin Catley (Swansea) and Jenny Aitchison (Maitland).

Women and children first.

The women MPs of the NSW Parliament, no doubt, get that famous saying as much as anyone.

These women from across the political spectrum have joined together to show support for the women and children of Ukraine.

This included NSW Shadow Minister for Women Jodie Harrison [the Charlestown MP] and NSW Minister for Women Bronnie Taylor

They wore the Ukrainian colours of blue and yellow to raise funds and show their support for the UN Women Australia's emergency appeal for women and children fleeing from the war.

"Often it seems that in the NSW 'bear pit' we are at war with each other," Jodie said.

"Coming together in this way was a beautiful, peaceful example of us working together in the background to help the many millions of women and children who are dealing with the awful, ugly realities of war in Ukraine."

Sesame Street

The Sesame Street Circus.

Cookie Monster once said the "early bird gets the worm but cookie taste better than worm, so me sleep in".

Cookie and his pals Elmo, Bert and Ernie and Super Grover star in Sesame Street Circus Spectacular, which is being performed at Richardson Park Reserve in Newcastle until May 1.

Ringmaster Michael Keen said the show was "an amalgamation of Sesame Street with circus artists from around the world".

"There's fun for the whole family, something for everyone with world-class acts and all the characters you know and love from Sesame Street," he said.

Sesame Street, of course, reminds us all of childhood.

The show began in the late 1960s. The producers of the show believed education through television was possible if they captured and sustained children's attention.

"It harkens back to slightly simpler times where not everything was on a screen in your hand," Michael said.

Michael said a ringmaster's role was about "connecting the audience to the skill that's in front of them".

"Quite often things that people make look very normal are incredibly difficult.

"It's also making sure people are looking at the right time and place and hopefully commanding the respect of the audience."

The Year 3200

St. George Bank sent this to a Topics reader.

"Hi, another year of your home loan ending in 3200 is complete. We want to check in to see if we can help you with anything you'd like to ask, chat about or change. Simply get in touch with us on 13 33 30 or drop into your nearest branch. Thanks for choosing us."

The year 3200 is another 1178 years off.

"That's a long time to be in hock, unless we've borrowed much much more than I thought!", the reader quipped.
