Support for West Dunbartonshire pupils as exam results released

Young people are being urged to reach out for exam support as results are released today (Tuesday).

It’s the first full exam diet since 2019 and a special helpline has been set up by Skills Development Scotland to help support those receiving their results.

The number is 0808 100 8000 and it will open at 8am on Tuesday, August 9 and is available to young people as well as parents and carers looking to support young people.

The team can also be reached through direct message on Facebook.

SDS’s expert advisers will have access to information on course vacancies at UK colleges and universities, confirmation and clearing, advice about foundation, modern and graduate apprenticeships and jobs, volunteering or staying on at school.

Dumbarton MSP Jackie Baillie said: “This year will have been a difficult one for many young people facing the first proper exam diet in their school careers. I am sure many young people across West Dunbartonshire, Helensburgh and Lomond, will be anxious and excited to receive their exam results as they look to their next steps within education or as they head into the world of work and I want to wish them well for their future.

“Even if your grades weren’t as good as you expected, there are still opportunities and the talented, compassionate and dedicated people who work on the Skills Development Scotland helpline will be able to talk you through those.

“Parents and carers can also call the helpline in order to support young people through their choices which will be a valuable tool for many.”
