Hamilton Advertiser’s toy appeal for 2021 is in full swing – with hundreds of gifts already having been handed in for disadvantaged youngsters across South Laanrkshire.
Christmas shoppers have responded in their droves since our annual festive campaign launched late last month, and we received a huge boost this week when Hamilton's politicians handed over a mammoth donation.
That's right, Angela Crawley SNP MP for Lanark and Hamilton East, and councillors Josh Wilson, John Ross and Graham Horne all dug deep, with the help of local constituents too, and donated sacks full of toys and gifts for underprivileged youngsters within our community this Christmas time.
Ms Crawley told us : "Every year, the Hamilton Advertiser go above and beyond for children and families in South Lanarkshire who would otherwise have gone without at Christmas.
"I was delighted to join with Councillors John Ross, Josh Wilson and Graeme Horne this morning to support their efforts and donate to the campaign."
We've also had support from Connect recruitment agency in Hamilton this week, whose staff and clients have pledged to make donations to our appeal - a huge thank you to all!
Gary Poderis, marketing assistant at Connect said: "The team at Connect Appointments are excited to announce their support of the Advertiser’s Christmas toy appeal campaign. After a difficult period for children and young people, the team are looking forward to giving back this Christmas."
And our donation points at Morrisons Hamilton, the town's two Starbucks coffee shops, Mecca bingo, Rocca Restaurant and Happy Feet Nursery in Larkhall have also taken in a whole array of Christmas goodies in the last week from kind-hearted individuals.
We're delighted to announce that our appeal partners, the Salvation Army on Burnblea Street, Hamilton, are now also taking in donations Monday to Friday 10am to 12pm. These include brand new toys and games for children aged newborn to 12 and gift sets or vouchers for the 13 to 18 year group.
There is still plenty of time to make your donation - with our official appeal end date on Monday, December 13 this year. So, please consider supporting a family in need this month.
