Gen Supot Malaniyom, chief-of-staff of the Royal Thai Armed Forces, has been appointed secretary-general of the National Security Council (NSC) by royal command published in the Royal Gazette on Tuesday.
The appointment is effective from Oct 1.
Gen Supot will replace Gen Natthapol Nakpanich, who retires at the end of September.
The royal command, dated Sept 27, was countersigned by Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha.
