An American pastor has blamed homosexuality for Hurricane Sandy. "God is systematically destroying America," said John McTernan of the Defend and Proclaim the Faith ministries. It's not the first time the LGBT community has been blamed for a disaster. The following, according to someone somewhere, were all gay people's fault:

• Hurricane Isaac (McTernan, again)
• Hurricane Katrina (Pastor John Hagee, Cornerstone Church in San Antonio, Texas)
• 2007 UK flooding (Rt Rev Graham Dow, The Bishop of Carlisle)
• The Catholic church's paedophile crisis (The Catholic League)
• Colorado Batman movie massacre (American Family Association)
• The fall of Srebrenica (blamed on "openly homosexual" Dutch peacekeeping force, by US Army General John Sheehan)
• The 2008 collapse of Panama's emergency phone system (anonymous police sources)
• Global warming (Samoan church ministers)
