Superstar Tyson Fury left raving about East Kilbride boxer after sparring session

Boxer David Jamieson doesn't get star-truck, but admits he was close to it when superstar Tyson Fury stepped out of a Ferrari ahead of a sparring session in Morecambe earlier this week.

The East Kilbride fighter impressed the two-time world heavyweight champion so much that he has been invited down every Wednesday until Fury tackles Jake Paul in Florida on December 18.

And he's got the added bonus of being asked to spar with number four heavyweight Joseph Parker next week, ahead of his rematch with Derek Chisora in Manchester, also on December 18.

Jamieson and his coach Gerry Higgins headed south for the match-up and David says the whole experience has been superb.

He said: "It's a good link-up there, down for some good sparring, and they were really positive.

"They were very impressed with what they saw and they were wanting me back down today (Friday) but I work full-time so I couldn't do it.

"But I've managed to get every Wednesday off work, so I'm going to go down and spar with them every Wednesday in the lead-up to the Jake Paul fight.

"The big man pulled up to the gym in the Ferrari, with the 'TF1' registration plate, and it was about a metre off the ground when he stepped out of it - I said 'big man, you must have been sitting in the back seat', because he's a giant.

Jamieson says Tyson Fury and his team were very complimentary (Jim Diamond)

"That registration plate probably cost more than my motor!

"But you couldn't meet nicer people. They're very humble, and you could have been sitting in a pub or a gym - no frills about it, they're just really nice guys.

"Tyson is totally down to earth; when you think about the heights he's hit, he's totally unaffected by it.

"You're meeting one of the best heavyweights on the planet, so it was a bit surreal.

"I don't get star-struck, I was just keen to get a blether, and they've been great.

"It's also great as well, because they've got the boy Joseph Parker, who is fighting Derek Chisora. Joseph is number four heavyweight in the world, he came in and said 'what weight are you'. I said I'm sitting about 15 stone, and he asked if we could get some rounds next Wednesday!

"If you're down there sparring with the number four heavyweight in the world, it's good company to be keeping!"

Jamieson says the experience has worked wonders for his confidence but feels that he can give something back to them, as well.

He explained: "[Tyson's brother] Tommy Fury hasn't had much amateur pedigree, and in terms of boxing it's more what he can learn from me down there, because I'm the more seasoned fighter.

"But big John Fury [Tyson's dad], and Tyson, the boy Joseph Parker, couldn't have been more complimentary about my work and they're very keen to have us back.

"I think there might even be a good word put in down the line to get us on a Frank Warren show or something like that.

"Myself and my coach Gerry were driving up the road last week and we were both tickled pink.

"They're not the kind of guys who will blow smoke, when they're paying compliments, and you've got the linear heavyweight champion of the world saying 'this guy can really fight, well done young man' it can only take you up a peg."
