Superquinn founder and former Senator Feargal Quinn has passed away at the age of 82.
He died peacefully at his home in Howth, Co Dublin after baffling a short illness, his family confirmed this morning.
A former Senator, Mr Quinn was best known for founding the Superquinn grocery chain.
In 2005 the Quinn family sold their interest in Superquinn to the Musgraves family's Supervalu chain of stores.
Superquinn was famed over the years for their quality of customer service and introduced Ireland's first loyalty card scheme, dubbed SuperClub.

Mr Quinn was born in Dublin in 1936 and was a graduate of University College Dublin.
His book "Crowning The Customer", published in 1990, has been translated to multiple languages and continues to be cited worldwide.
He is survived by his wife Denise, their five children and 19 grandchildren.
