Supermodel Gisele Bundchen mocked for wearing a burka to avoid being seen visiting plastic surgeon in Paris

Supermodel Gisele Bundchen attempted to go incognito in Paris by wearing a burqa to a plastic surgery clinic, despite the item of clothing being banned in France.

Bundchen was attempting to evade the paparazzi with her sister, Rafaela, but Page Six identified her by her personal chauffeur and car.

They noted that she had been driven to and from the same clinic late last month.

While many people considered it inappropriate – France banned the wearing of burqas in public spaces in 2010 – she was also criticised for adorning clothing with strong religious connotations simply to avoid being seen in public.

Imam Muhammad Abdullah Kamal Al-Azhari, from the Astoria Islamic Centre in New York, told the New York Post that her actions would be considered offensive to more conservative Muslims.

“She’s not doing it for Islam. This is very bad,” he said. “She’s wearing a holy thing for a bad purpose.”

Reports suggest Bundchen spent $11,000 (£7,000) having operations on her eyes and breasts.
