Supermarkets urgently recall 'unsafe' dairy product sold in Tesco, Sainsbury's and Waitrose

Supermarkets are urging customers to return a popular dairy product after it has been deemed 'unsafe to eat'.

The Food Standards Agency (FSA) is recalling St Helen's Farm Goat's Butter 250g with a best before date up to and including March 13 2022, after it was found to contain small pieces of metal.

The popular butter is stocked in many major supermarkets across the country, including Tesco, Sainsbury's and Waitrose.

In a recent announcement, the FSA wrote: "'This product may contain pieces of metal which makes the product 'unsafe to eat.'

"Point of sale notices will be displayed in all retail stores selling St Helen's Farm Goats Butter."

Following the FSA's announcement, Tesco confirmed that they would be recalling the butter and have urged customers to return the product to their nearest store to receive a full refund.

In a post on Facebook, the supermarket giant announced: "We’ve been made aware that St Helen’s Farm are recalling certain batch codes of their St Helen’s Farm Goats Butter 250g.

"This is because the product may contain small pieces of metal which may pose a health risk."

Customers can return the dairy product back in-store where they will receive a full refund, even without a receipt.

Product recall notices can also be found in stores that currently stock the butter and will explain why it is being recalled.

For more information they can contact St Helen's Farm on 01430 861715 or info@sthelensfarm.co.uk or visit the company's website.
