Supermarkets urgently recall crisps, cheese and chicken wings over safety fears

Major supermarkets are immediately recalling a host of popular snacks and food over listeria and allergy fears, it has been confirmed.

Some of the biggest names on the high street are following the guidance over chicken wings, crisps and cheese on a list of potentially contaminated products.

The Daily Record reports ho experts at the Food Standards Agency (FSA) keep a watchful eye over which supermarket items need to be withdrawn for the wellbeing of customers.

And their latest list of recalled products include a cheese found to contain the harmful listeria bug which can cause flu-like symptoms pain, chills, vomiting and diarrhoea.

In more severe but rare cases, the bug can cause serious complications such as meningitis while the elderly or pregnant women and babies are more vulnerable to infection.
