A major supermarket has lifted purchase restrictions forced into place by a second wave of panic-buying as the COVID-19 situation in Victoria worsened.
Last month, Coles and Wooloworths implemented purchase restrictions on toilet paper and paper towel nationwide, as a spike in coronavirus cases in Melbourne sparked an onslaught of customers rushing to stock up.
From Tuesday, Coles has lifted all purchase restrictions across the country.
Woolworths lifted restrictions on gloves and hand wash but customers are still limited to two packs of toilet paper.
Although the ACT has not detected a case of coronavirus in more than a month, and supermarkets have remained open throughout the peak of the pandemic, shelves emptied for the second time this year.
In Victoria, limits imposed on food products at both supermarkets including flour, eggs, sugar, rice and pasta, have been lifted from Tuesday.
