Supermarkets are already selling Easter eggs and people aren't happy

The Christmas period is barely over.

The chances are you still haven't packed away the tree and tinsel and you may even still be feeling aftershocks from your New Year's Eve hangover.

But supermarkets have well and truly moved on with some already stocking Easter products - more than 100 days before the event.

Easter this year falls on April 12 and yet supermarkets in Wales have wasted no time at all in getting bunny-shaped chocolates and eggs on the shelves.

From Tesco Express stores in Cardiff and Swansea to Asda in Llanelli, the stores are displaying seasonal favourites.

Meanwhile, Iceland already has some giant chocolate eggs on display in its stores across the country - from Cadbury's Bournville and Turkish Delight to Fry's Chocolate Cream.

But while millions of people maybe chocolaholics, it seems that they don't want to be thinking about Easter quite yet.

While supermarket staff have been busy unpacking the chocolate eggs, people have been taking to social media to register their displeasure that the countdown to Easter is already on - before we even reach Valentine's Day, Pancake Day or Mother's Day.

Hannah Miers said it was "shameful" after spotting Easter goodies in Morrisons.

She wrote on Twitter: "How can you justify having your Easter eggs on sale already on DEC 30TH? Probably went out on DEC 26TH.. Most of my sweets haven't been opened from Christmas. No wonder you mess up Xmas orders - like mine, when your already planning Easter. Shameful."

Morrisons responded saying: "Hi Hannah, so sorry you feel this way. I've passed your feedback on to be looked into going forward."

On December 30, Sophie tweeted: "Can't believe there are easter eggs in the shops already...not even 2020 yet."

Other people also posted on social media to register their displeasure:
