Supermarket Sweep set to make a return to our screens - and this is how you can be on it

It was the classic TV show that saw contestants running around a supermarket packing their trolley with items, while answering questions in hopes of improving their chances to win a grand prize.

Now the fan favourite show, Supermarket Sweep, originally hosted by the late Dale Winton, is making a surprise return to ITV.

Dale died last year, so the new series of the show will be hosted by X Factor and Celebrity Big Brother contestant, and more recently This Morning preseter, Rylan Clark-Neal, reports ChronicleLive .

The original show aired from 1993 to 2001, and then made a brief return in 2007. In 2017 it was announced that FreemantleMedia had acquired the rights and confirmed the show would return.

ITV say the new series, which will run on ITV2 rather than ITV, will feature all the classic elements from original episodes like the inflatables and the famous jumpers, while also incorporating more modern games and even a few celebrity cameos!

There has been no word on when Supermarket Sweep will be on air or indeed when it will start filming, but you can already apply to be on it.

How to be on the new series of Supermarket Sweep

ITV say they are "looking for fun, outgoing and dynamic pairs of couples, friends, school and work mates or family duos to take part in Supermarket Sweep."
