Supermarket rolls out delivery by bike to bring you food within an hour

Sainsbury’s is rolling out a new rapid bike delivery service - with shopping arriving at the door within an hour.

After a successful pilot in London in April, Chop Chop launched in Nottingham today (June 2).

Customers living within 3km of stores at Castle Boulevard and Perry Road can get up to 20 products delivered via the Chop Chop app.

Once a 50 store roll out is complete around 3.2 million households across the country will be able to get groceries delivered within 60 minutes, helping to meet the unprecedented demand for deliveries for those self isolating or struggling to get to stores.

The supermarket has already more than doubled the number of customer orders it can fulfil from the stores as delivery slots are typically all booked by 10am. By bringing the rapid bike service to 50 stores across the country Sainsbury’s will increase capacity by a further 400 percent.

Clodagh Moriarty, retail and digital director, said: "We are doing everything we can to feed the nation and offer our customers quick, convenient and safe ways to get their groceries.

"Demand for home grocery deliveries has never been higher and we have been receiving great feedback for Chop Chop, with customers really valuing the speed and convenience it brings.

"By rolling Chop Chop out to 50 stores in 20 cities across the country, even more customers can get what they need delivered to their door.”
