An Airdrie supermarket is launching a new way for customers to support local foodbanks.
Morrisons is introducing new “pick-up packs”, costing between £1 and £3 and containing in-demand products most requested by the local good causes.
They are being rolled out nationally after a successful trial, started when Basingstoke store employee Michelle Leary noticed that customers struggled to know what to donate, and with foodbanks often having an excess of products like rice and pasta while being short of other items.

Each pre-packed parcel can be picked up while shopping, paid for at the till and then put aside to be collected by foodbank volunteers.
Morrisons community director Rebecca Singleton said: “Foodbanks are a lifeline for the most vulnerable in our communities and these parcels are an easy way to donate to them.”
