The Retailer of the year has been announced- and it’s not Aldi or Tesco.
Beating Lidl, Tesco and Morrisons, supermarket giant ASDA has come out on top.
ASDA was honoured with 36 awards at the Free From Awards, including two gold, fourteen silver and twenty bronze as well as the top accolade of the night, Free From Retailer of the Year.
Celebrating ASDA's own brand Free From, the awards highlight the products that aim to offer great quality and value for all customers.
ASDA says the awards are “a real credit” to the hard work of staff and that the company is “proud” to be an “inclusive retailer”.
This comes after the “happy-to-help” supermarket spent a whole year improving their Free From range to ensure the products are more accessible and affordable for their customers.
According to Liverpool Echo, Asda invested £6.1m into pricing so that customers who purchase Free From items will not have to pay more for their essential shopping.
The chain also redesigned their packaging and modernised the range, enabling an easier shop for customers.
The new packaging resulted in removing 16.27 tonnes of plastic from packaging.
But ASDA hasn’t stopped there. They have also been busy launching 38 new items, taking Asda’s Free From offer to 202 products, expanding customer choice.
