Supermarket giant Ocado apply for permission to build new Lanarkshire warehouse

North Lanarkshire Council has received a planning application on behalf of Ocado requesting permission to construct a new distribution centre in Motherwell.

The online supermarket is seeking approval to build a facility on vacant land at Eurocentral.

The site at Condor Glen is 9.8 hectares in size and the development calls for storage, warehousing and offices along with parking spaces for 200 vehicles.

Ocado was recently affected by a major fire at a fulfilment centre in London, which cost an estimated £10m in lost profits.

But the firm has stated it remains optimistic about future growth and announced intentions to spend an extra £5m on recruiting and paying drivers during the ongoing Brexit-related shortage.

Further information and plans for the proposed distribution centre can be found on the council's website under the reference number 21/01443/FUL.
