A young boy handed police officers heartwarming letters and chocolate coins in the wake of the Manchester suicide bombing.
The 11-year-old, known only as Ben, ran up to the constables outside Manchester town hall on Tuesday and handed them envelopes addressed to "The Superhero's [sic] of Manchester" before quickly running away.
Each envelope was filled with a small chocolate coin and a letter thanking police for protecting citizens in the wake of the terror attack on the city, which left 22 dead and dozens more injured.
The heartwarming letters were signed by three children Ben, 11, Amy-Leigh, 14, and Charlotte, 4. Each featured a child's drawing of a police officer and a heart.
"We currently have Police Constables working on duty outside the Town Hall in Manchester this afternoon when a young Boy who we only know as Ben approached him and gave him two envelopes, then run off. The envelopes were addressed to 'The Superhero’s [sic] of Manchester'," a statement on Greater Manchester Police's Facebook page read.
"Thank you for brightening up our day :)"
A total of 18 people were arrested after Mancunian Salman Abedi detonated a homemade explosive device in the foyer of an Ariane Grande concert.
Ten men remain in custody in connection with the attack. Another eight people have been released without charge.
