Superhero kids and parents fly into Wishaw for charity danceathon

Superheroes aren’t just in movies, they’re walking the streets of Wishaw.

Around 50 kind-hearted locals clad in their favourite action film character costumes took part in a marathon Zumba session and raised hundreds of pounds for a Wishaw charity.

The danceathon held at Cambusnethan Primary was a huge success and massively benefited the Les Hoey MBE DreamMaker Foundation.

Organisers and Zumba coach Lynsey McCallum was delighted with the turnout.

She said: “Me and my Zumba divas held a Zumba charity class for the Les Hoey DreamMaker Foundation in a local school.

“The theme was superheroes and we had about 50 people attending including kids, which made it extra special.

“We danced the night away and raised £1000 on the night thanks to donations, raffles and ticket sales.

“Our community came together to help an amazing cause. We had the best time ever.”

The charity, based in Craigneuk, help children with life-limiting conditions going through gruelling treatments to meet their idols and make their dreams come true.
