Superdrug opening 25 new stores and giving 70 more a new look

Superdrug has announced plans for 25 new stores - creating 570 jobs this year. A further 70 shops will be given a new look.

Already in 2023 the health and beauty retailer has opened up in Washington Shopping Centre in Washington, Falkirk Retail Park and Braehead in Scotland. A further three "best-in-class" Superdrug stores are to open in Dublin Dundrum, Manchester Trafford Centre and London Brent Cross in the coming few months.

It has not yet confirmed where the other new stores will be. But it said it will refit 70 other sites throughout 2023 to update and "modernise" the business, the Mirror reports.

They will get new shop fronts, fully recyclable and updated signage, improved flooring and ceiling tiles made from bio-soluble mineral wool, clay and starch, energy-efficient LED lighting, and new floor layouts. The changes are part of Superdrug's "Sustainable Store Scheme", with the aim of making shops "as eco-conscious as possible".

Nigel Duxbury, property director, at Superdrug, said: “High streets and retail parks are the beating heart of our communities and an essential part of our economy. Our investment in bricks and mortar will help us continue to stretch, shape, and deliver for our customers in the future, as well as helping transform communities into vibrant places to live, work and shop.”

Superdrug currently has around 830 stores across the UK and the Republic of Ireland – including 200 in-store pharmacies.
