Superdrug announces they will send their nurses to the NHS

Major high street health and beauty retailer Superdrug has sent its nurses to volunteer for the NHS.

The company currently employs 102 nurses who normally work in-store, in one of the 82 high street clinics. However due to the current circumstances surrounding government advice about COVID-19, a number of these services have been suspended.

Superdrug healthcare director Michael Henry said:

"We have an incredibly dedicated, compassionate and professional team of nurses and they have chosen to directly support the NHS in the fight against coronavirus alongside our pharmacy teams.

"We'll do everything we can to support them and the public during these extraordinary times."

The nurses will continue to have their salaries paid by Superdrug during this time.

The statement from the health and beauty retailer to aid the health service comes after the nationwide show of support for the NHS last night, as thousands clapped at 8pm in a heartwarming gesture.

Today NHS Lothian also released advice for any NHS staff or volunteers traveling home from work and how to prevent a further spread of the virus.

The guidance includes wiping the steering wheel and handles of your car down once arrived home, removing and washing the clothes worn at work and showering as quick as possible once through the door. Keys, glasses and any other personal items such as a mobile phone must also be wiped down.
