Supercomputer's Leeds United's relegation prediction shifts after Wolves triumph

The FiveThirtyEight supercomputer's latest predicted is forecasting that Leeds United will escape relegation from Premier League after the Whites secured a much-needed Premier League win over relegation rivals Wolves.

Jack Harrison put the visitors ahead after just six minutes before Luke Ayling netted his first goal in exactly a year, which also came at Molineux, to double Leeds' advantage.

Rasmus Kristensen appeared to have put the game beyond doubt by netting his first goal in English football, with Leeds assuming a 3-0 lead.

However such presumptions would prove premature as two goals within eight minutes, from Jonny and Matheus Cunha respectively, reduced the deficit to just one goal.

In a nail-biting final 15 minutes, the former was then sent off for a challenge on Rodrigo before the Spaniard netted in additional time to seal a 4-2 win for Leeds.

Three points saw Javi Gracia's side move just one place and point behind their opponents and, more importantly, two points clear of 18th-placed West Ham United.

Gracia was quick to praise his players post-match, claiming: "I think today we got a very, very good win.

"Our players, in my opinion, did an amazing game and they deserve the reward, the three points because I think we showed a very good face today."

And despite coming under heavy criticism from fans across the duration of the season, FiveThirtyFive's predicted Premier League table suggests that the Whites will avoid relegation, once again.

The table, which is compiled after simulating each round of fixtures by relying upon data gathered from previous matches, details United have just a 17% of being relegated.

This is inferior when compared to the likelihood of Wolves (23%), Everton (40%), Bournemouth (54%), Nottingham Forest (56%) and Southampton (68%) being relegated.

It is predicted that Leeds will finish ahead of the above clubs in 15th, four points clear of relegation with a predicted tally of 39 points from their 38 Premier League matches.

Prior to this weekend's set of favourable results for Leeds United at the bottom of the table, the website gave Leeds a 29% chance of dropping back into the Championship.
