Supercomputer predicts Nottingham Forest's Championship play-offs fate

With the January transfer window business now concluded for Nottingham Forest, the focus will now turn to whether they can secure a play-off spot.

Currently sitting just two points off the promotion play-offs, the Reds will have a crucial run of fixtures this month that could determine their fate, come May.

Upcoming fixtures against Stoke City, Bournemouth, Preston and Bristol City will be key to push for a place in the top six.

But can they achieve the play-offs? We have taken a look at what a supercomputer is predicting using data provided by FiveThirtyEight.

Steve Cooper's side are tipped to finish in 10th place on 66 points and therefore miss out on securing a play-off spot - falling six points behind sixth-place.

Blackburn Rovers, Queens Park Rangers, Sheffield United and Middlesbrough are poised to contest for a spot in the Premier League however, whereas West Brom fall just short by a point.

Their play-offs probability is rated at only 18 per cent while six per cent is on getting promoted.

Rivals Derby County meanwhile, are not tipped for the greatest escape as they have been predicted to finish 22nd - three points off the safe zone.
