Supercomputer predicts Liverpool finish and outcome of Premier League title race

The latest supercomputer predictions have thrown up a surprise top four with Liverpool expected to finish above current table-toppers Chelsea.

Thomas Tuchel's side are, at the moment, four points clear of the Reds and three points clear of Manchester City at the top of the Premier League table.

Liverpool currently sit third on 25 points, just a point behind City in second.

West Ham occupy fourth with Arsenal in fifth - but the latest predictions have projected this won't be the final order come the end of the season.

According to FiveThirtyEight, a company that specialise in stats and simulations, Manchester City are forecast to retain the title in May with 86 points.

Liverpool are predicted to finish second with 83 points, while Chelsea are surprisingly expected to finish third on 82 points.

West Ham are forecast to make the top four but are expected to be a staggering 20 points behind their London rivals in third.

They've predicted Manchester United, Arsenal and Tottenham will finish fifth, sixth and seventh respectively.

The forecast is based on FiveThirtyEight's Soccer Power Index (SPI) ratings that are adjusted after every match based on a team's performance.

They are also able to predict how each Premier League match will finish, with Liverpool having over a 60% win probability in their eight remaining domestic fixtures of 2021.

Jurgen Klopp's side have a difficult December ahead with away trips to Everton, Tottenham and Leicester City before the end of the year.

They also welcome a rejuvenated Aston Villa side to Anfield in a couple of weeks time in what will be the former Liverpool captain's first match against the Reds as a Premier League manager.
