Supercomputer predicts final Premier League table as top four battle hots up

Liverpool's first win at Old Trafford under Jurgen Klopp has put them well back in the hunt for a top four spot with just a few games of the season left to play.

The Reds came from behind to beat their arch rivals 4-2 and now have both Leicester and Chelsea ahead of them in their sights.

A win over West Brom in their game in hand on Sunday would pull Liverpool to within a point of Chelsea and just three off Leicester going into the final two matchweeks, where their rivals still have to play each other.

That is after the small matter of the FA Cup final between them this weekend, while Leicester then host Tottenham on the last day, as Chelsea prepare for the Champions League final with a tricky trip to Aston Villa.

And it seems Chelsea's double pursuit of silverware could well get in the way of their domestic form if a Supercomputer has got its calculations correct.

Footywebpages have crunched some numbers, predicting the result of each match over the rest of the campaign and how the table will eventually finish up.

And by their reckoning, it will be Chelsea who miss out on a coveted top four spot.

They believe Liverpool will continue their decent run of league form to go unbeaten in their final three games, seeing off West Brom, Burnley and Crystal Palace.

Meanwhile the big clash between Leicester and Chelsea is forecast to end all square, with the Foxes then winning the final day clash with Spurs to secure third spot, a point ahead of Liverpool.

That will put even more pressure on Thomas Tuchel's Chelsea to win the Champions League showdown against Man City in order to stay in the competition next season.

Elsewhere in the table West Ham will get their rewards for an impressive season by booking their place in the Europa League with a sixth-place finish.

Tottenham come in behind them in seventh, ahead of Everton in eighth and Arsenal in their lowest position since 1996 in ninth.
