Newcastle United supporters will be relieved to know a Premier League predictor believes they've done enough to secure their status in the top flight next season. Eddie Howe's side embarked on a nine-game unbeaten run that propelled them out of the relegation places and into the lower echelons of mid-table.
Now, FiveThirtyEight’s supercomputer - which uses statistical information and detailed data analysis to calculate how the Premier League table will finish in May - thinks Newcastle have secured their status for next season. Back-to-back defeats against Chelsea and Everton haven't drawn the Magpies back into a relegation battle just yet, with many predicting their Premier League football is assured next season.
Newcastle won't rest on their laurels but know they have tough tests on the horizon. Howe's side still need to face Tottenham Hotspur, Manchester City, Liverpool and Arsenal before the curtain falls on the current campaign.

The Magpies will no doubt look to games against Burnley, Crystal Palace and Norwich for vital points. The supercomputer is predicting Newcastle will finish in 15th with a 5 per cent chance of relegation, behind fellow relegation rivals Brentford.
Burnleey, Watford and Norwich City are the sides being tipped for relegation, with Everton surviving by two points and Leeds United in 16th a point ahead on 37 points. Small sections of the Toon Army may have joked about European qualification during their nine game unbeaten streak, but the supercomputer has given them a less than one per cent chance of European football next season.
