Supercomputer delivers decisive verdict on Leeds United and Everton in relegation fight

Leeds United are a point adrift of safety with just two matches remaining following their home draw with Newcastle United. Sam Allardyce picked up the first point of his interim spell with a 2-2 draw at Elland Road which ended the Whites' six-match losing run.

Luke Ayling opened the scoring after only seven minutes, but a late deflected strike from Rasmus Kristensen was required to avoid a seventh straight loss following a brace from Callum Wilson from the penalty spot. The latest result means Leeds are now just a point behind Everton, who suffered a heavy home loss to Manchester City on Sunday afternoon.

It was a spirited and improved display from Leeds against the high-flying Magpies, but it has not changed their status as favourites to join Southampton in the Championship according to data analysts FiveThirtyEight. The Whites alongside Leicester City, who sit a point behind Allardyce's side and play their game in hand against Liverpool on Monday night, are considered the most likely teams to suffer relegation come the end of the season.

The latest forecast has attributed United with a 68% chance of being relegated, with the Foxes given a similar prediction of 69%. Everton and Nottingham Forest have been given ratings of 30% and 33% respectively.

Leeds are currently sat on 31 points, with the prediction indicating they will pick up draws in their final two fixtures at West Ham and at home to Tottenham. However, this will leave them two points shy of the totals both Everton and Forest are expected to accumulate from their remaining games.
