Supercomputer boosts Leeds United's survival verdict despite Aston Villa defeat

This weekend's Premier League action at the bottom of the table has seen data analysts FiveThirtyEight boost Leeds United's survival hopes in their latest set of predictions, despite the Whites going down 2-1 at Aston Villa.

The Whites have struggled for form of late and sit two points above the relegation zone in 14th place.

However, despite failing to register a single win in their last five league games, and a further seven across all competitions, Leeds have in fact been tipped to finish a place higher than their current position, with FiveThirtyEight forecasting a 13th place finish, up a place from their last round of predictions prior to this weekend's slate of fixtures.

Leeds are forecasted to reach 41 points and have a probability rate of 16% of being relegated from the top-flight this season, according to FiveThirtyEight.

Southampton, Everton and Bournemouth are the three teams predicted to face the drop, while Arsenal are being backed to win the Premier League title ahead of Manchester City.

Leeds have won just four of their 18 games in the Premier League this term - losing nine games in total. However, despite jumping ahead of Leicester City, Nottingham Forest have moved three points clear of Leeds with a 2-0 win over the Foxes on Saturday.
